The Nevada State Railroad Museum Boulder City tells the history of railroading, the significance of transportation systems in Nevada's culture, history, and history. It also preserves and exhibits railroad artifacts. MUSEUM DISPLAY PAVILION: The main pavilion of the museum contains two tracks and pieces from rolling stock. It is accessible daily from 9 00am to 3 30pm.
The pavilion closes on state holidays. The self-guided area has interpretive signs that can be seen from both the inside and outside of cars. EXCURSION TRAIN RIDE Train rides can be taken on Saturdays or Sundays throughout the year. You can travel along the Boulder City Branch Line in a historic electric diesel locomotive.
The 9-mile round trip from Boulder City to Railroad Pass takes approximately 45 minutes. LIVE STEAM ROAD The 7.5-gauge railroad runs rides every Saturday from September to May. Due to extreme heat, the Live Steam railroad is not able to run during summer. MODEL RAILROAD CARR The model railroad car can be found at the entrance to the museum pavilion, behind the ticket counter.
It has an O and HO scale layout. The model railroad car is available to the public every weekend between 10 00 and 3 30pm. MUSEUM STORE On Saturdays and Sundays, the museum store is open from 9 00am to 4:00pm. Specialized apparel and merchandise for the museum, as well as railroad- and Nevada-themed merchandise are available.
MAINTENANCE FACILITY: The museum has a two-track maintenance and restoration workshop located at the museum's west end. Our crews maintain the excursion train's functionality and are equipped with a work pit, overhead crane and machine shop. The public is not permitted to enter this area. 702.486.5933.
