About Sand Hollow State Park

Sand Hollow State Park is located in Utah, USA, featuring a 1,322-acre reservoir and an extensive off-highway vehicle recreation area on Sand Mountain. The park is near the town of Hurricane. The park was officially dedicated in April 2003 and surrounded the Sand Hollow Reservoir.

With its warm, blue waters and red sandstone landscape, with a temperature that hovers around 86-81 degrees F from May through September, the Reservoir is the best place for skiing and other water sports activities. There are also designated picnic and camping areas.

There are two campgrounds to choose from in the area. First, the Sandpit Campground (ATVs allowed to drive in) offers nineteen dry camping sites, six power sites, and five group sites. Second is the Westside Campground, with 50 sites with full hook-ups. All Campgrounds have a fire ring picnic table and restrooms with showers.

Enjoy a memorable family day at the Sand Hollow State Park Reservoir. The park offers adventures for everyone, including fishing, swimming, kayaking, and cliff jumping. Or, simply picnic, play in the sand, or wade in the warm water. Rent a boat, go water skiing, surfing, or just cruise around and explore.

A red sandstone reserve that offers boating in a lake off-highway riding on Sand Mountain. Most frequently asked questions Do I have to make a reservation in order to camp in the park? You can find pricing information and details about campsites on the reservation website. Are off-highway vehicles allowed in the park? Yes. We are close to trails. However, most of the roads are maintained by counties and states which only allow street-legal vehicles.

We recommend that you trailer your vehicle to various trailheads if your vehicle is not street legal. The visitor center offers both winter and summer equipment for rent. The most popular summer rentals are Fat Tire Bikes, fishing poles and Fishing Poles. Winter is the best time to rent snowshoes or cross country skis.

It is an amazing campsite, with plenty of space between sites and showers. There are also stunning views from the reservoir. Only problem is the curfew I have not had one since I was in my teens! The solution? Pay the fee to obtain the gate code. We assisted some campers to get into their tents after they were locked out.
