Donald was born and raised in Texas. His passion for big, smoked meats, and comfort foods is what led to his culinary inspiration. He has 23 years experience and found his passion for techniques that transform ordinary meals into extraordinary ones. As executive chef of Hearthstone Kitchen Cellar, Summerlin, he combines the two to create a unique culinary style.
He specializes in comfort food and elegant Elavors. Donald spent a lot of his childhood working with his grandparents to create delicious food from fresh produce. They taught him that great hospitality and delicious food were key ingredients to a memorable experience. After attending Le Cordon Bleu Texas, Donald set his sights to become a professional chef.
He then went on to gain practical experience within the field. In 2004, Donald started his culinary career at Norwegian Cruise Line America as a sous-chef. He spent four years onboard the cruise ships before moving to Las Vegas' Restaurant Guy Savoy. Here he discovered his passion for French technique and detail.
Donald gained experience in the Henderson and Vegas areas and was promoted to sous chef at Caesars Palace. He then moved on to his current role at Fix Restaurant Bar and Bellagio as operations manager and sous chef. Donald quickly rose to the position of sous chef for Caesars Palace in Henderson, before moving on to his Eirst job as executive sous-chef at Hearthstone Kitchen Cellar. He was proud to accept the dream job of executive chef at The Cheesecake Factory, North Las Vegas after achieving the milestone of 17 years working in the industry.
Donald accepted the position of executive chef at Hearthstone after seven years of culinary excellence. He is hopeful that Hearthstone will be recognized in Las Vegas as one of the top places to eat. Since then, Donald has been working hard to mentor his staff and chefs, and create a welcoming atmosphere for guests. Donald enjoys cooking, but it is not his only passion.
He also loves spending time with his family, including his son and daughter. He hopes to live in a sustainable ranch one day with his family, and be able to sustain himself from the land.
