Benny Binion, who opened the Horseshoe Casino in 1951, was a pioneer of Las Vegas casino innovation. Jack Binion was elected president of Horseshoe Casino Las Vegas in 1963. He hosted the World Series of Poker seven years later.

It would grow to be the biggest poker tournament worldwide. With the 1973 opening of Eldorado Hotel and Casino Reno, Donald Carano set the stage for his legacy. Although Naysayers warned against his venture, he was bold and took the initiative, changing the face of Nevada gaming and many other areas.
