The Fire Wave Trail is a short hike within Valley of Fire State Park in Southern Nevada. It's mostly flat and offers beautiful views of the surrounding red rock formations, and ends at a great display of swirling rock in red, pink, and white sandstone.
The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and nature trips and is accessible year-round. Dogs can also use this trail but must be on a leash at all times. A large portion of the hike is on sandstone rather than sand, and there are trail markers with rock cairns to help keep on the trail.
Hiking in summer is not advisable, for the trail has almost no shade, and temperatures can easily reach 120°F. Therefore, it's best to hike in the cooler months or early in the morning.
