About Emerald Cove

Emerald Cove is a small cave in the Black Canyon area in Arizona and Nevada Border about 50 minutes from Las Vegas. It gets its name from the brilliant, greenish hues that light up the water when the sun's at just the right angle.

It is Kayaker's favorite because of the beautiful tributary canyons, natural hot springs, rugged cliffs, and seeing remnants of early settlement.

There is hot mineral water in the river 2,000 to 4,000 years old trapped rain waterfalls throughout the Great Basin that create hot springs in the area.

A fun half-day kayak trip in the Black Canyon, it is just 2 miles upstream from Willow Beach to Emerald Cave (4 miles round trip). The cove is a great place to picnic and the cave, in the afternoon's light, is a great place for photographs!

It's a bit underrated, but we went in January to paddle the river at 9am and didn't see anyone until the afternoon.

It is a great place to kayak the Colorado River. However, this particular Cove may be overhyped. You only have about one hour per week to capture that perfect Instagram picture. There are usually a lot of people around so chances you will miss it. It s just a tiny hole in the rock and nothing exciting. It is highly recommended that you kayak this s... see more

Beautiful and peaceful. We hired kayaks and made it just right. However, we were disappointed at the Emerald Cave. It is more like an indentation. The photos online are very misleading.

It fits 4 kayaks snugly

This is an utter waste of time. The cavern is twice as large as the kayak. You go back and take pictures, then you are done.

A concession store worker said that the best time of day to go to the cove was in the morning or early afternoon. We then waited for a canoe and were instructed to wait in line.

We started from Willow Beach, had an amazing day paddling on the Colorado River. We continued on to Emerald Cove where we will be camping.
