Checkerboard Mesa is an iconic 6,520+ ft elevation Navajo Sandstone summit located in Zion National Park, in Kane County of southwest Utah, United States. Checkerboard Mesa is immediately southwest of the park's east entrance, towering 900-feet above the Zion-Mount Carmel Highway.
A two-mile roundtrip hike that features an elevation of 900 feet to the Summit, known as a hike "off the beaten path," will test the endurance because of some serious steep that requires good physical ability.
It is one of the most recognizable and photogenic landmarks in Zion National Park. With its distinctive cross-hatching patterns on a cone-shaped white cliff formation, hikers are mesmerized by the beauty of the Canyon.

Zion National Park Zion National Park is the brightest among the impressive Southern Utah collection National Parks and National Monuments. Its visitors enjoy its vertical grandeur, which contrasts with the Grand Canyon in Northern Arizona. Zion National Park is a eight-layered masterpiece in sandstone. Keep going on SR-9 until you reach the south end of the park. The Zion National Park SR-9 is open year-round. It is also known as the Zion Mount. Carmel Highway.

It is owned by Zion National Park in Southern Utah, home to many slot canyons. The soft rocks found only in Southern Utah and Northern Arizona are the source of slot canyons.
