Baepler Xeric Garden is called the "heart of the campus" in UNLV (University of Nevada Las Vegas), studied by landscape architecture and biology students and ornamental horticulture students from the nearby college of Southern Nevada.
The garden features many xeriscaping plants and educational exhibits on sustainable landscaping practices that showcase desert plants and other Southern Nevada and Las Vegas Valley vegetation.
There are several attractions in the area, including an arid garden tour, which takes the visitors around through different vegetation zones of the garden such as Sonoran Desert, Mojave Desert, Great Basin Desert, and the Chihuahuan Desert.
Located at the entrance to the Marjorie Barrick Museum, the Donald H. Baepler Xeric garden demonstrates how drought-tolerant plants and an efficient irrigation system combine to save water and create an attractive landscape. It was the first large-scale demonstration garden of its kind in the Las Vegas Valley.
