Middle Oak Creek Trailhead is in Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, about 40 minutes from Las Vegas, Nevada, but not in the Scenic Loop Area.

The route starts through a gate heading northwest and down across a hillside that burned during the 2007 Bonnie Spring Fire. &nbsp;It provides a pleasant walk across Red Rock Valley leads into Oak Creek Canyon, Connecting to the regular Oak Creek Canyon Trail. Access this trail from a dirt pull-out along SR-159 roughly 0.6 miles south of the Scenic Drive exit. Cross the fence and follow this open desert trail as it leads you into Oak Creek Canyon. It features great views of the Red Rock Escarpment.

Red Rock Canyon is an excellent starting point. There's a small parking lot in stone off the main road. The trail heads towards the Knoll. There aren't any restroom facilities.


It is easy to locate a very unique drum circle Sundays close by the trail.


Wow! We took our family photos here, and two other groups were also taking photos. Local photographer loved it. I would love to return and hike it again.


The trailhead was packed during the Thanksgiving holiday.


Enjoy all of the trails around Red Rock, and in the few areas Snake was an unexpected surprise. I do know that they exist out there.


By far one of my favorite hikes in Red rock  It s a moderate hike with very little elevation gain decline so don t worry about it  You can get a little lost if you wander off the path to explore like I tend to do  I would recommend going down into the actual creek cuz it s beautiful and fun  I went in end of September which was still surprisingly beautiful in the low 90s  I plan on coming back here in the winter and definitely in the spring after some nice rain  It s a great hike to take friends  dates  or out of towner s  Oh but please don t leave your damn trash here as some people are freaking a holes 

Although I did not actually hike, I simply watched the comet and took photos. However, there was a lot more traffic in such remote areas for 9pm on a Thursday night.


Oak Creek Trail offers some of the most spectacular views of Mt Wilson, Rainbow Peak. The trail crosses directly in front of Mt Wilson. I suggest you see it before the sun sets to maximize the views. Oak Creek Trail is more rugged than its counterpart First Creek Trail to south. It is easy to slip on the trail with good footwear. The hill just prior to entering Canyon is an excellent goal hike. It is just over one mile away from the road. There aren't many bad spots on this trail.


It is my favourite place to hike in this area. The scenery is beautiful at any time of year.


Me and my hiking buddy entered this trail from the middle and we had gotten confused   a few times because there were many paths to take  We eventually started to follow some hikers since we weren t getting anywhere near the creek  I liked this trail as it was bear water which is what I like  We walked so   mUch that we eventually   met up to another trail  Knoll   trail and walked that a bit too  This trail wasn t heavily filled with traffic  It was a nice amount of   people to feel a bit secure with and not having to constantly move to the side to make space for people  It took us about two hours to get in and out  It s mainly flat with a couple of declines and inclines  Great for families or beginners 

Great flat trail with gorgeous scenery    This is the last trail on the Red Rock scenic drive before you actually leave the park so watch for the trailhead    Beautiful scenery and lots of local flora and fauna to see    I ll definitely be back to explore more 

It's a short, easy hike of 3 miles. This trail is popular with families. The South Trail head can be found just beyond the Red Rock entrance. I was amazed by the exact location of google maps. There are many loose rocks along the trail so make sure you protect your ankles


Spent a beautiful fall day hiking here  with access inside Red Rock or outside  park in the lot past the Scenic Loop exit   which is helpful for those busier days at the park  There are a few different turnoffs here  which can make navigation a bit tricky  as well as areas where the trail forks for different options  Look up a map beforehand online as a guide We started from the  middle creek  route  Trail was mostly easy to follow til we reached a large ridge and needed to backtrack  We made it most of the way to the end but not all the way to the creek  Took a different trail back and got turned around  went off trail  never a good idea  got all scratched up   so maybe taking the RR route is a better option  YMMV  literally     Not sure I d do this one again  but the trail leads you to some great rock climbing areas 

Oak Creek Canyon  Red Rock Canyon Oak Creek Canyon is an easy to moderate hike located at Red Rock Canyon    The hike is about a mile one way  You can access the trail from inside the Red Rock Loop or off SR 159 south of the loop exit  I prefer starting the hike off SR 159  Plus  it s free and you don t have to drive through the loop to get there  The hike towards Oak Creek Canyon is wide open and the trail is very easy to follow  The terrain is mostly packed dirt  As you get closer to the creek  the terrain becomes rocky and there s even a few boulders that you will have to navigate through  The scenery is very calming  especially when there s an abundance of water in the creek  The views include the canyons and Wilson Cliff  Be on the lookout for coyotes  And most importantly  have fun  be safe  and leave no trace 

Great views  but a lot of rocks  About 2mi in you ll see a small creek  I will definitely do it again 

Oak Creek Canyon Trail is a pretty easy hike  but also rocky  so you ll need to watch your step so you don t trip  The first mile is a designated trail however after that isn t  so if you plan on heading into the canyon you ll be doing some scrambling over and around boulders  If scrambling isn t your thing just walk the mile to the mouth of the canyon and then turn around and head back while taking in some nice views and a variety of plant life  There s not much shade  so having water and sunscreen is important  This is a great trail for all ages even my dog enjoyed it 

Located past the exit of the Red Rock Loop on SR 159  Oak Creek is a scenic trail that s easy to access and involves no fee to enjoy    If you re looking to enjoy the Great Outdoors and add some cardio into your day  this beats the dreadmill hands down    It s not strenuous at all as the trail is mostly flat  but a rocky one  so watch your step    You have great views of Red Rock as well as encounter cholla  Joshua trees  Yucca  and more rocks    The creek was flowing well when I went with Debbie N  this past weekend and that sound of running water is so relaxing    You can basically follow the trail as far as your legs and stamina will take you    Great choice for people of all ages and easy to navigate

I ve hiked this trail and gone for a trail run out there  It s beautiful  You can access the canyon trail from inside the Red Rock National Conservation Area or from Hwy 159  if you don t want to pay to get into Red Rock  or the line at the entrance is too long  As is pretty common for a trail in the desert mountains  there isn t much shade  If you go out here in the summer  you ll definitely want to be sure to apply sunscreen  The trail is pretty rocky  so be sure to watch your step   especially if you re not a super confident trail runner hiker After a couple miles  you re treated to some gorgeous views  and if you go deep enough  you might be treated to some tiny waterfalls and pools Check out our videos on YouTube that were shot along this trail youtu be Xm5y7H  Tkgyoutu be Z5hZERlqyN8
