Lost Creek Trail is 0.35 miles long and can be done as 0.7 miles out and back hike with 165 feet of elevation change. The hike is along the Scenic Loop Road in Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, about 1 hour west of Las Vegas.
It has an enjoyable trail that runs across the Red Rock Wash to a waterfall inside the Rainbow Mountain Wilderness Area. This hike is suitable for young kids to explore the surrounding rock formation and visit the Lost Creek Waterfall.
As the trail climbs the rocky slope out of the wash, it passes a fence protecting one of its cultural resources, the agave roasting pits.
You will also notice an overhang pictograph that appears to be waving at the passers-by in the area.
This self-guided interpretive trail introduces visitors of all ages to the many different features of the Mojave Desert at Red Rock Canyon, including pictographs, lessons of desert life, towering views, and a hidden seasonal waterfall (December-April) in the canyon.
