The Clark County Museum is a function of Clark County Parks and Recreation, accredited by the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies.
The museum is a 30-acre site that features a modern exhibit hall with a timeline exhibit about southern Nevada from prehistoric to modern times.
There are collections of restored historic buildings found in Heritage Street in the museum. It is a tree-lined avenue with eight historic structures from Southern Nevada. Among the buildings are the Giles/Barcus House, circa 1905 from Goldmine, and the Beckley House, and Las Vegas structure from 1912.
They also display the 1898 dewy slot machine, a poker table, and a roulette wheel showing the history of Las Vegas gaming.
Originally founded in 1968 by the Henderson Chamber of Commerce as the Southern Nevada Museum, the Clark County Museum has been serving the citizens of Clark County for over 50 years. It is the oldest museum in the Vegas Valley.
