Neal Portnoy is a philanthropist and was commissioned to make a portrait of Mike Krzyzewski, longtime Duke University basketball coach. The proceeds from the sale of the print will go towards a new wing at the Duke Children s Hospital. Flutie Through The Years is Neal's illustration of Doug Flutie as a professional football player. It was made for a series that raised money for the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism.

Additionally, he is active in St. Judes Ranch for Children, Las Vegas, as well as The Jimmy Fund (the fundraising arm of Dana-Farber Cancer Research Institute, Boston, MA).
