Bail Bail is a pledge of money or other property to an agency that will temporarily release the defendant from prison.

What is the Bail amount? The bail amount will be determined by the jailor. The allegations against the crime will determine the dollar amount. The bail amount for DUI cases is typically 3,000. How can I help my friend? A bail bonding agency can be hired and only a fraction of the total 3,000 will be charged.

This percentage is either 15 according to Nevada Law, or 450 in the example above. They can be held in jail up to their court date, which usually takes place within 72 hours. A Bail Bond is a contract whereby the bail bonding agency, with a cosigner, promises to pay the bail amount to court in the event that the defendant does not appear at their court date. The bail amount for the DUI case is 3000.

What is Bail Bond? You will hire a bail bonding agency and they issue a bond. This is a similar to a check. This check will show the total bail amount for the DUI case. In this example, the dollar amount would be $3,000 The check is given to the court.

It can only be cashed if the defendant does not appear in court. The defendant can reschedule to get a new date before the court cashes the check. What happens to a defendant who misses court? A warrant for the defendant's arrest will be issued if they miss a court date. The defendant may have his attorney file a motion for quash and get a new date to resolve the warrant.

The defendant can often go directly to court and cancel the warrant. The court will not cash the check by the defendant failing to appear for court. Scheduling and attending a new date with the court is a good idea. What happens to the cosigner if the defendant misses court? If an arrest warrant isn't resolved by defendant or their lawyer in a timely fashion, the Fugitive Recovery Service will retain the services to send the defendant back to jail.

The co-signer will have to pay all fees. How much is the cosigner responsible? The cosigner must pay all charges and the entire bail amount in case the defendant vanishes. The co-signer in the DUI case would have to pay the fees as well as the bail amount of 3,000. How much is the Bail Bondsman fee? The State of Nevada, according to Law NRS 697.300, sets the fee (also known as a premium) at 15% of the bail amount.

The bail amount for a DUI is 3,000. Therefore, you will need to pay 15 times the 3,000. This is 450. The 15-dollar fee in Nevada is not refundable after we have posted the bail with the jailor.

Because the State sets the bail premium at 15, all bail agents must charge that amount.

See Nevada State Law NRS 697.300. If a Bail Agent gives a lower rate than the law requires, it is either not licensed or deceptive. This type of situation is not good for the defendants and your safety. eBAIL works with you to make the 15-day payment easy. eBAIL is fully licensed, has appropriate bonding and offers insurance. eBAIL has also been accredited with the Better Business Bureau. They can resume their normal lives with no interruptions and are able to return to work. They can prepare adequately for court dates, and change court dates according to their needs. The detainee will be in jail clothes and handcuffs if no bail is posted. This will most likely indicate to the judge or jury that the defendant has been convicted.

It gives the appearance that the defendant is undergoing acclimatization to prison. This reduces their chance of success. A defendant who is on bail may be allowed to reschedule court dates by dressing in their appropriate clothing. Any undue bias can be greatly reduced by wearing normal clothing or a suit and tie.
