    good for a scenic drive or an easy moderate day hike    OVERALLThe Willow Springs Loop is a neat area within Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area approximately 21 miles from downtown Las Vegas  NV ENVIRONMENTThis is desert terrain  I loved all the red rocks  rock formations  and the various mostly visible archaeological resources  Bring water  sunscreen  sunglasses  hats  and walking shoes  For the most part  I was able to have cell phone reception with T Mobile Sprint  but there are definitely areas where it was non existent SERVICEWelcoming staff at the fee station  Make sure to ask for a map or pick one up at the visitor center MY FAVORITE PART   The preserved history and beautiful rocks NOT SO FAVORITE PART   Mid afternoons in June are sweltering THE AREAAfter a horseback ride at the nearby Cowboy Trail Rides  6 8 21   my in laws drove us over to the Willow Springs Loop area to enjoy our packed lunch and refresh for an easy hike There are non shaded picnic tables available  It gets fairly windy at times  Trash cans are aplenty  Please pack it in  pack it out  Dogs are allowed in some areas I would have loved to have seen some bighorn sheep  but didn t this go round We didn t do much hiking in this area because my in laws recommended a children s trail up the road instead  We did walk up part of the trail some where we picnicked  though  My youngest daughter thought the agave roasting pits were cool  Proud of her for reading most of the information board about them PARKINGThere is plenty of free parking near the trails TIPS  The paved road going into the entire park is one way and not high speed at all  One big loop  Be patient with the many first time tourists   There is wheelchair accessibility or so the signs say   There are outhouse restrooms in several stopping points  including the Willow Spring Picnic Area    Area  4   Service  4   Environment  4   Price  4  

This is a great hike with a gradual incline so it s good for most ages and activity levels    Since the incline is gradual  you also see quite a few trail runners out there    Beautiful scenery  especially in the Spring when everything is flowering    If you re going to go in the summer  I highly recommend going right when the park opens at 6 am before it gets too hot    That s a good way to avoid the crowds anyway and it s peaceful and serene    You ll also see more wildlife that way 

This is a fun and mostly easy hike for all ages  We parked at Willow Springs and started the trail from there  They have picnic tables that you can rest at or have have a relaxing picnic  Near the bathrooms look for the paved trail and start there  As you start to walk along you should see the Native American pictographs and the agave roasting pit  Stop  look and take some pictures  Please do not try to climb on any of the boulders or deface this important historical area  It s really neat that we are able to see historical stuff like this and that people of all ages can learn about what used to go on in the area  but if it gets ruined then history get erased and that sucks  Past the agave roasting pit if you keep going towards your right  you will need to watch for cars when crossing the street to the Lost Creek parking area  You can also just get out and see the pictographs and roasting pit  but if you feel up to it like I did then go a bit farther and check out the rest  Follow the signs and don t forget to ask for a map of the area when you first enter Red Rock near the visitors center  You will experience sun exposure on this trail  so bring sunscreen and plenty of water  My dog had no issue on the trail and loved sniffing and exploring
