Caesars Entertainment's corporate heritage began when Bill Harrah, an entrepreneur from Reno, Nevada, opened Harrah's Bingo Club in 1937. From a small property, the company has grown to include more than 50 casinos around the world. Flamingo Hotel Casino was established in 1947 as the Las Vegas Strip's first casino.

Harrah's became the first company to list on the New York Stock Exchange. Jay Sarno, Donald Carano, and Benny Binion were also leaders in the gambling industry. Benny Binion, who opened the Horseshoe Casino in 1951, was a pioneer of Las Vegas casino innovation.
