What is a Snack?

A Snacks is a segment of food, smaller than a regular meal.  This is generally eaten between meals.  Snacks come in a variety of option including packaged snack foods and other processed food, and additionally, things produced using fresh ingredients at home.

What are Healthy Snacks?

Healthy snacks incorporate those that have noteworthy vitamins, are low in fat and added sugars, and have a low sodium content.  Examples of healthy snacks include:

  • Foods that have whole grains
  • Fruits and vegetables
  • Nuts and seeds
  • Low-fat dairy products
  • Lean meats, eggs, such as hard-boiled eggs, and lean cheese
